Want to select your produce each week at Worden Farm in Punta Gorda? Choose On-Farm Market-Style. You'll get to choose from an assortment of produce, for members only, at Worden Farm in Punta Gorda. Frequent bonus pick-your-own crops, like cherry tomatoes and beans. Additional bonuses for on-farm members include our “Flex” system, which provides greater flexibility with your harvest share, free kids' activities, "chat and chop" in the barn, and saying "howdy" to the animals in the barnyard. For 20 weeks, from the first week of December to the middle of April.Delivery locations, days, and times are on our membership form. "Flex" System Each week, just choose any amount of vegetables, following the quantity guidelines on the card for each item. Then, visit the check-out booth to have your items counted. For the regular share size, you may choose 200 items during the 20 week season, (i.e., an average of 10 items per week). For the small share size, you may choose 134 items during the 20 week season (i.e., an average of 6-7 items per week). You may choose more or less than the average number of items in any given week. If you need to miss a week, you will not lose those items on your account. Any items that remain at the end of the season on your account will not be carried over to the next season. Children's Activities We offer a free, fun children’s activity program with weekly topics relating to agriculture and sustainable farming. Bring your children and grandchildren for these interactive events. Chat & Chop As an on-farm pick-up member, you and your farm guests are invited on Wednesday afternoons after picking up your harvest share, to relax at the farm and prep your veggies before you head home. Wash, peel, and chop veggies while chatting with fellow farm members - then go home with your veggies prepped and ready to use. There will be tables and chairs set up in the barn, and a three-compartment sink. Extra plastic bags and paper towels will be provided, along with compost buckets. Reference cookbooks and a recipe exchange board are additional features in the barn. Just bring a prep kit with your favorite knives, peelers and cutting board. Cost Choice of membership size: Regular = $600; Small = $400. There is no member work requirement, and there are no additional fees or commitments. |
